The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2 in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County Police said.

Eric Lindemann, 33, of Holbrook, was driving a 2018 Kia southbound on Ocean Avenue when he veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder, striking Amanullah Aman, 64, outside of his residence, located on Ocean Avenue, according to police.

Aman was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Major Case Unit detectives charged Lindemann with Driving While Intoxicated. Lindemann is being held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 3.
